We know that students develop many skills by participating in performing arts programs including confidence and team work! Music is a compulsory subject from Foundation to Year 8 and all students are encouraged to participate in the instrumental music program, the dance group or school band. Students have the opportunity to perform in concerts and showcases across each year so that the experience of understanding music theory and creating music are underpinned by performance opportunities. The benefits that are associated with learning an instrument have a positive impact on a child’s social skills and brain development.
Research shows that learning music lights up the human brain and promotes neural development. All our students play musical instruments as part of the music program. In addition we offer an instrumental music program so that students learn to play an instrument with expertise, take part in live performances as well as have the opportunity to undertake Australian Music Examination Board assessments.
