The Board, the school staff and teachers are proud of our children who continue to have a safe place to excel in academic studies while living their culture and values in a friendly and welcoming community.

The Board and the Principal have worked together to renew our college as a vibrant learning community with a bright long-term future. With a careful considered plan and strategy we are on the way to achieving our goals despite the challenges presented by the pandemic. We are continuously measuring our progress. For instance, we are very proud that our annual Progressive Achievement Testing and NAPLAN results demonstrated our students made the expected level of learning progress despite the risks to student engagement and learning posed by the disruption to learning programs during the pandemic.

Since 2019, under the leadership of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese has invested over $6 million dollars to improve teaching and learning and the school facilities. In 2023, with improved student numbers (the highest numbers since 2008), the support of the local parishes and communities, our parents and friends, the school is poised to stand on its own two feet. The Archdiocese remains as a proud parent by our side ready to catch us if we need support and to applaud us as we grow more confident in our mission.

Appointment of New College Principal - 2

It is with deep sadness that we inform the St John’s College community that our Principal, Mrs Anna Urban, has decided to step down as Principal of our blessed College for personal reasons. Mrs Urban has resigned from her position as College Principal, effective 15th December 2022.

We thank Anna for her great contribution to the success, renewal and growth of St John’s College. Anna’s dedication, passion and hard work has been pivotal to developing a vibrant learning community.

The Board has appointed a new Principal. Mr Andrew Ponsford is a highly experienced P-12 independent schools Principal. Andrew has had over 30 years experience in Melbourne’s leading grammar schools. He will take the reins once Mrs Anna Urban finishes at the end of term 4.

We look forward to welcoming Mr Ponsford into our community and working closely with him.
