FOREVER EXCELLING’

Philotimo
To Love, Excel, Achieve and Dream … to LEAD

All members of our community aspire to act as Christians, in accordance with our school values, every day in every way.

St John’s College is an independent co-educational Foundation to Year 12 school located adjacent to Bell Station in the Melbourne suburb of Preston.

Since our foundation in 1979 the College has provided a high standard of education to thousands of Victorian students. Our past accomplishments provide us with a strong foundation upon which we continue to offer contemporary programs that support our students to learn to adapt, respond to and thrive within the globalized world.

The College is committed to enabling our students to achieve academic success whilst also prioritising the development of the whole person. Our education programs deliver wide-ranging experiences and opportunities so that all students may pursue their interests and develop their talents.

Within our diverse and inclusive community we nurture a compassionate and resilient approach to life. We endorse a community outlook and a sense of service informed by the values and beliefs of the Orthodox Christian Church. If you are looking for a great education and community for your child, St John’s College is one of the premier catholic schools in Preston.

Mission Statement

To foster a love of learning, live the Orthodox Christian values of love, kindness, responsibility and humility, and celebrate Hellenism, in a community environment where everyone is welcome.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to educate the whole person, academically, socially, spiritually and morally. Students leave the school with the knowledge, skill and confidence to succeed in their chosen field; to ‘walk the right path – Philotomo’.

Our Guiding Philosophy

We believe that when students feel safe and accepted at school, they are best able to engage in their learning.  Student engagement and agency in learning are the foundation of educational achievement and personal growth.

Democratic Principles

The programs and practices at St John’s College support and promote the principles and practices of Australian democracy. These principles include:

  • Elected government
  • The rule of law
  • Equal rights for all above the law
  • Freedom of religion
  • Freedom of speech and association
  • The values of openness and tolerance
  • This is reflected in our everyday involvement in the total life of the College where we encourage each member to support our values.
