Orthodoxy at St John’s College Preston, has been developed to provide our students an understanding and appreciation of the Orthodox Christian faith.

Students from Foundation to Year 12, participate in Orthodoxy classes where they learn about Jesus’ message of salvation, the Holy Scriptures and Holy Tradition, our Saints and feast days.

Our goal for our students is to nurture a lifelong journey with God as the center, where joy, challenges and service to others is embraced and forged through an Orthodox Christian perspective. They live in a constantly changing world, and Orthodoxy aims to teach them Orthodox Christian beliefs, moral teachings and values through praxis.

Students participate in daily prayer, the divine liturgy and other services, including the paraklesis. The Byzantine Chanting group offers all students the opportunity to chant at services at school, as well as participation at vespers and divine liturgies at parishes.
