Dear St John’s College Community,

Christos Anesti. Welcome to Term 2. I hope everyone enjoyed a blessed Easter with your families and that you have returned to school ready for a fruitful term of work and learning.

Principal’s Bulletin Term 2, Week 1, 2022 - 1

This term we celebrate the value of EXCEL. I am sure many of us think EXCELLENCE is getting a high mark on a test or being a successful scholar; however, our value of EXCEL is expressed in many ways. Excelling as Christians may mean being graceful and forgiving of others,
or
it could be donating money or goods to those less fortunate. Perhaps it means living with integrity and dignity and in this way glorifying
His name
. On Monday mornings when we give values awards we will be looking for examples of students and staff enacting our value of EXCEL as expressed in our Shared Expectations.

I hope to see everyone at our family picnic and Olive Harvest this coming Sunday the 1st May at 12.30pm.

Evzones Visit

Thank you to Mrs Drougas for organising this morning’s assembly and working with Mr Tony Tsourdalakis to arrange the visit of the Greek Presidential Guard – The Evzones. It was extremely special to have The Evzones participate in the beautiful ANZAC Day Commemoration service. I was very proud of our College captains Maria and Kayla who professionally hosted the service. Thank you to Mr Stelios for leading the drumming group and to all our student drummers. Thanks to the Orthodoxy and Greek Departments for assisting prepare the students;
to Mr Sherwood and Mr Ball who arrived very early to set up and stayed behind to pack up, and to Mrs Vintsenzos organised a beautiful morning tea. Well done to the students who all behaved very respectfully throughout the event.

Teacher News

We welcome Mr Joshua Lynzaat as our new music teacher for Term 2; we look forward to Mr Lynzatt leading our music program and assisting us prepare for the mid-year concert. Mr Lynzatt is an experienced performer and has many talents to share with the students.

This term Mr Lim will be leaving the College and while it is always sad to say goodbye, rest assured we will have an announcement about a replacement teacher very soon. Ms Kargas and Ms Attley will ensure planning and programs are in place so there is continuity for students. We thank Mr Lim for his work at the College and wish him all the best for the future.
